    • MARCH 16, 2012-FINALS
      The Falcone Law Hawks captured their second consecutive Gene Dillon Tournament Championship and capped an undefeated season with a 51-24 victory over the Kinney, Secola & Gunning Spurs.

      In the final, Jaedin Falcone hit for 6 points and Cameron Dechalus added 2 to power the Hawks to a first quarter lead. The second quarter saw the Hawks break the game open with a solid defensive play and hot shooting. Justin Santos netted 8 points in the quarter and Edward Brooks and Chris Chance also knocked down three pointers for the Hawks. Sal Russo, Tyrese Thomas and Michael Smith led the offensive attack for the Spurs

      The second half saw the Hawks maintain the lead with Jaedin Falcone finishing with 10 points and Chris Murico and Armando DeChalus chipping in on the offensive end. The Spurs were led by the scoring of Jabari Daluz and Tehran Tripp.

      The Hawks reached the championship with a 38-20 win over the fifth seeded Oyster River Petroleum Warriors. Jaedin Falcone, Danny Prendergast and Cameron Dechalus combined for 21 points in the win for the Hawks. Odean Brown netted 8 points and Mike Dimartino and Trevon Avery combined for 6 for the Warriors.

      The third seeded Spurs upset the second seeded Duffy’s Tavern Celtics as they rallied from 8 points down in the second half to win 45-35. Jabari Daluz and Tehran Tripp combined for 26 points for the Spurs. Nick Demaio and Deandre Greene chipped in with a combined 10 point in the win. Jhamal Singleton, Lamont Davis and Shaun Rucker starred for the Celtics offensively.

      The members of the regular season and tournament champion Hawks are Jaedin Falcone, Armando Dechalus, Cameron Dechalus, Danny Prendergast, Tyler Thomas, Darren Warren, Chris Chance, Chris Murico, Edward Brooks, Jaden Jones, Justin Santos, Leon Carston and Thomas Smith. The Hawks were coached by Skip Falcone, Pat Elia and Gary Falcone.

      The members of the Spurs are Jabari Daluz, Deandre Greene, Shemar Tucker, Tehran Tripp, Nick Demaio, John Amendola, Tyrese Thomas, Jancarlos Cruz, David Iwu, Kyle O’Keefe, Sal Russo, Michael Smith and Josh Wallace. The Spurs were coached by Michael Jackson and Tim Gunning.

      MARCH 12, 2012
      The Hawks, Celtics, Spurs and Warriors advanced to the semifinals in the Gene Dillon Tournament with wins last week.

      Jaedin Falcone, Jaden Jones and Chris Chance combined for 34 points to pace the top seeded Falcone Law Hawks to a 43-30 win over the Kelly Construction 76ers. Tyler Thomas also added 5 points for the Hawks. The Sixers were led by the scoring of Lorenzo Davis, Brandon Sebastian and Juan Jimenez.

      The fifth seeded Oyster River Petroleum Warriors knocked off the fourth seeded Metro Taxi Knicks 50-29. Michael Dimartino led all scorers with 22 points and Adrian Jaynes and Daniel Thomas added a combined 18 points for the Warriors. The Knicks offensive attack was led by Adrian Urbina, Justus Harrell and Jason Frazer.

      The second seeded Duffy’s Tavern Celtics exploded for 15 points in the second quarter to break away from the Savin Rock Roasting Pistons 37-31. Nate Smalls and Shawn Rucker led the scoring for the Celtics. The Pistons rallied to cut the lead in the second half behind the play of Bobby Hawkins, Tim McCarthy and Jamell Lawhorn.

      The final quarterfinal game saw John Amendola, Tyrese Thomas, Josh Wallace and Sal Russo combine for 20 second quarter points to lead the Kinney, Secola & Gunning Spurs to a 47-31 win over the Hi-Fashion Cleaners Bucks. Deandre Greene and Nick Demaio combined for 14 points for the Spurs. The Bucks were led on the offensive end by Andre Vella, Victor Rios and Samir Evans.

      MARCH 3, 2012
      West Haven Youth Basketball kicked off its season ending Gene Dillon Tournament with first round games Saturday at Pagels School.

      The eleventh seeded Hi-Fashion Cleaners Bucks picked up its first win of the year in its 41-37 upset win over the sixth seeded Italian American Lakers. Andre Vella scored 14 points and Samir Evans added 7 to pace the win. The Bucks also got scoring from Brandon Mino and Victor Rios. The Lakers were led by 15 points from JoJo Spann and 6 points from Mark Goodwin.

      The ninth seeded Kelly Construction 76ers upended the eight seed Mario Custom Painting Clippers 40-25. Brandon Sebastian, Lorenzo Davis and Connor Pickering led a third quarter run to break the game open. The Clippers were led by the combined 14 points from Matt Wielk and Rashad Peters.

      The final game of the opening round saw Marshall Davis hit for 13 points and Tim McCarthy add 9 points to pace the seventh seeded Savin Rock Roasting Pistons to a 46-21 win over the tenth seeded Gold Works Bulls. Joe Consorte and Matt Duncanson led a second quarter surge for the Pistons. The Bulls were led on the offensive end by Brandon Williams Coleman and John Steinman.

      FEBRUARY 21, 2012
      West Haven Youth Basketball ended its regular season with teams fighting for position in the upcoming Gene Dillon Tournament.

      The Kinney, Secola & Gunning Spurs secured the third seed as Tehran Tripp tied the game as time expired in regulation and Deandre Greene knocked down a three pointer in overtime to lead them to a 29-26 win over the Gold Works Bulls. The Spurs were led on the offensive end by Jabari Daluz, Sal Russo and Mike Smith. The Bulls were led by the scoring of Brandon Williams Coleman, John Steinman and Sebastian Poulemon.

      The fourth seeded Metro Taxi Knicks downed the Duffy’s Tavern Celtics 40-33 behind the 19 points from Jason Frazer and 13 points from Jamel Pate. The Celtics will have the second seed in the tournament and were led by play of Davon Jordan, Tyrell Frazer and Lamont Davis.

      Sean Jefferson and Rushad Davis each hit two three pointers and combined for 24 points as the Mario’s Custom Painting upended the Kelly Construction 76ers 48-37. The Sixers were led by the combined scoring of Brandon Sebastian, Connor Pickering and Lorenzo Davis

      FEBRUARY 13, 2012
      Adrian Urbina hit for 12 points and Shane Clarke and Toma Brown combined for 12 points to power the Metro Taxi Knicks to a 50-37 win over the Italian American Lakers. Dan Ampofo, Josh Moncrief and JoJo Spann led the scoring attack for the Lakers.

      The Savin Rock Roasting Pistons used 12 points from Matt Duncanson and 5 points from Bobby Hawkins in their 34-17 win over the Gold Works Bulls. The Bulls offensive attack was powered by Harrison Febbriello, John Steinman and Andre Montgomery.

      FEBRUARY 13, 2012
      The Italian American Lakers used 12 points from Josh Moncrief and 8 points from JoJo Spann to upend the Hi-Fashion Cleaners Bucks 42-30. Mark Goodwin and Dan Ampofo combined for 13 Laker points. The Bucks scoring came from Larry Etoule, Jordan Island and Victor Rios.

      The Falcone Law Hawks finished a perfect regular season as they downed the Oyster River Petroleum Warriors 49-28. Justin Santos, Tyler Thomas and Tom Smith led the Hawk offensive attack. The Warriors received a combined 18 points from Alex Ruxer, Trevon Avery and Daniel Thomas.

      Jason Frazer netted 13 points and Justin Miller and Jamal Pate each added 10 points as the Metro Taxi Knicks upended the Kelly Construction 76ers 38-35. Brendan Sebastian, Devin Snipes and Connor Pickering led a balanced Sixer attack.

      FEBRUARY 11, 2012
      The Falcone Law Hawks captured the regular season title in West Haven Youth Basketball as they prevailed in a matchup of unbeaten squads as they downed the Duffy’s Tavern Celtics 42-21. The Hawks balanced attack was led by Jaedin Falcone, Danny Prendergast and Cameron Dechalis. The scoring of Leon Carston and Chris Chance opened up the game in the second quarter. The Celtics were led by the play of Nate Smalls, Tyrell Frazer and Tyrenn Jordan

      The Kinney, Secola & Gunning Spurs used the play of Jabari Daluz, Shemar Tucker and Tehran Tripp to rally past the Kelly Construction 76ers 36-29. The Sixers were led by the play of Ryan Pickering, Lorenzo Davis and Keanu Dos.

      FEBRUARY 4, 2012
      The Falcone Law Hawks and Duffy’s Tavern Celtics both remained as West Haven Youth Basketball’s only unbeaten teams with wins last week. The unbeaten teams will square off Saturday at 9:00 a.m. at Pagels School.

      The Hawks also bounced the Hi-Fashion Cleaners Bucks by a score of 36-19 behind the scoring of Cameron Dechalis, Danny Prendergast and Chris Murico. The Bucks scoring was led by Jordan Island, Cory Coleman and Brandon Mino.

      The Celtics kept pace by rallying past the Gold Works Bulls 35-24. The Celtics trailed by one point after three quarters but the play of Jhamal Singleton, Lamont Davis and Tyrell Frazer secured the win. The Bulls were led by the combined 17 points from Justin Steinman and Josiah Steinman.

      The Kinney, Secola & Gunning Spurs used 25 points from Jabari Daluz to outlast the Metro Taxi Knicks 47-41 in double overtime. Tehran Tripp, Mike Smith and Deandre Greene made key plays in overtime for the win. Jason Frazer sent the game into a second overtime with a three pointer at the buzzer and finished with 11 points for the Knicks. Adrian Urbina, Alex Hackley and Fernando Lopez also provided the offense for the Knicks.

      JANUARY 30, 2012
      Jaedin Falcone and Justin Santos combined for 15 points as the Falcone Law Hawks downed the Gold Works Bulls 41-27. Leon Carston and Chris Chance also provided offensive support for Hawks. The Bulls attack was led by Harrison Febbriello, John Steinman and Sebastian Paulemon.

      The Oyster River Petroleum Warriors used 11 points from Daniel Thomas and 7 points from Trevon Avery to defeat the Italian American Club Lakers. Dan Ampofo, Latrell Dupree and Leo Gaegan-Chevez starred for the Lakers.

      Ryan Weber, Marshall Davis and Jamel Lawhorn powered the Savin Rock Roasting Company Pistons to a 28-18 win over the Mario’s Custom Painting Clippers. The Clippers were led by 9 points from Eddy Moran and a combined 8 points from Matt Wielk and Sean Jefferson.

      JANUARY 28, 2011
      West Haven Youth Basketball returned to action with a shootout involving the Italian American Club Lakers and the Kelly Construction 76ers. Danny Ampofo and JoJo Spann combined for 48 points to lead the Lakers to a 59-53 win over the Sixers. The Sixers had a balanced scoring attack with a combined 30 points from Conor Pickering, Lorenzo Davis and Brendan Sebastian.

      The Falcone Law Hawks also remained unbeaten as they downed the Savin Rock Roasting Pistons 29-19. The Hawks balanced attack was led by Cameron Dechalis, Chris Murico and Tyler Thomas. The Pistons were led by the scoring of Math Sager, Ryan Weber and Tim McCarthy.

      The Gold Works Bulls used 14 points from Brandon Williams-Coleman and a combined 16 from John Steinman and Josiah Steinman to upend the Mario’s Custom Painting Clippers by a score of 34-29. The Clippers received 7 points apiece from Eddy Moran and Corey Smith and 5 points from Rashad Peters.

      JANUARY 23, 2011
      The Duffy’s Tavern Celtics escaped with 44-42 overtime win over the Hi-Fashion Cleaners Bucks to remain unbeaten. Tyrell Frazier and Jhamal Singleton both netted four points in the extra period to seal the win. Lamont Davis scored 16 points and Singleton finished with 10 for the Celtics. The Bucks rallied behind the combined 20 points of Jared Sandler and Brandon Mino.

      Mike Dimartino, Alex Ruxer and Trevon Avery combined for 30 points to pace the Oyster River Petroleum Warriors to a 42-21 win over the Metro Taxi Knicks. Jason Frazer scored 12 points and Jamal Pate added 8 to power the Knicks.

      JANUARY 18, 2011
      The Kinney, Secola & Gunning Spurs scored the final five points, including a key hoop from Nick Demaio, to rally past the Oyster River Petroleum Warriors 30-28. The Spurs were led by the combined 14 points of Tehran Tripp and Deandre Greene. The Warriors were led by 15 points from Daniel Thomas and 7 points from Michael Dimartino.

      The Savin Rock Roasting Pistons bounced back with a 36-26 win over the Hi-Fashion Cleaners Bucks. Bobby Hawkins hit for 13 points and Marshall Davis added 11 to power the Piston attack. The Bucks were led by the play of Jordan Island and Andre Vella.

      January 14, 2012
      John Amendola and Tyrese Thomas combined for 15 second quarter points to power the Kinney, Secola & Gunning Spurs to a 51-36 win over the Italian American Club Lakers. Nick Demaio, Tehran Tripp and Jabari Daluz combined to score 31 points for the Spurs. The Lakers were led by Joe Spann’s three three pointers and 15 points from Daniel Ampofo and Mark Goodwin.

      The Falcone Law Hawks remained unbeaten with a 41-27 win over the Mario’s Custom Painting Clippers. The scoring of Leon Carston, Jaden Jones and Chris Chance in the second quarter broke open a close game. Justin Santos and Armando Dechalis combined for 11 Hawk points. The Clippers’ attack was paced by the scoring of Eddy Moran, Sean Jefferson and Charlie Sihapong.

      Trevon Avery scored 15 points and Michael Dimartino and Odean Brown combined for 13 points to pace the Oyster River Petroleum Warriors to a 39-24 win over the Kelly Construction 76ers. Alex Ruxer and Mekai Geter also starred for the Warriors. The Sixers were led by the play of Art Kelly, Connor Pickering and Juan Jimenez.

      JANUARY 9, 2012
      On Monday, John Steinman netted six fourth quarter points to rally the Metro Taxi Bulls to a 24-21 win over the Hi- Fashion Cleaners Bucks. Harrison Febbriella and Sebastian Paulemon also starred for the Bulls. The Bucks scoring was led by Jeremy Tammato, Andre Vella and Victor Rios.

      The Duffy’s Tavern Celtics remained unbeaten as they held off a late rally from the Savin Rock Roasting Pistons to win 33-30. Tyreen Jordan and Ryan Jones combined for 14 points and Jason Young hit a key three pointer for the Celtics. The Pistons used the three pointers from Tim McCarthy, Marshall Davis, Bobby Hawkins and Jamel Lawhorn to rally late in the game.

      JANUARY 7, 2012
      West Haven Youth Basketball rolled towards its halfway point with the Hawks and Celtics remaining as the league’s remaining unbeaten.

      The Falcone Law Hawks handed the Italian American Lakers their second loss of the season to remain unbeaten. Leon Carston, Jaden Jones and Edward Brooks combined for 20 Hawk points in their 34-18 win. The Lakers were led by the play of Josh Moncrief and Brett Gradoia.

      Odean Brown erupted for 16 points in the second half to rally the Oyster River Petroleum Warriors to a 29-26 win over the Savin Rock Roasting Pistons. Brown finished with 17 points and Daniel Thomas and Ryan Smith scored for the Warriors. The Pistons were led by Matt Duncanson’s 9 points and 5 points from Joe Consorte.

      Eddy Moran, Brett McDermott and John Santos paced the Mario’s Custom Painting Clippers to a 36-32 win over the Kinney, Secola & Gunning Spurs. The Spurs were led by three point field goals from John Amendola, Tyrese Thomas and Mike Smith.

      Adrian Urbina and Toma Brown combined for 22 points in leading the Metro Taxi Knicks to a 51-39 win over the Hi-Fashion Cleaners Bucks. The Buck attack was led by Samir Evans, Curtis Wiliams and Brandon Mino.

      Keanu Dos, Brandon Sebastian and Lorenzo Davis led a balanced attack for the Kelly Construction Sixers in their 37-22 win over the Goldworks Bulls. Josiah Steinman hit for 10 points and Brandon Coleman added 5 for the Bulls.

      DECEMBER 19, 2011
      Jabari Daluz scored 15 points and Nick Demaio and Deandre Greene combined for 14 points to lead the Kinney, Secola & Gunning Spurs 42-27 win over the Hi-Fashion Bucks. The Bucks scoring was led by Desmond Spencer, Victor Rios and Talon Butler.

      Daniel Ampofo netted 24 points and Mark Goodwin and Tremaine Cox combined for 8 points in the Italian American Club Lakers 38-31 win over the Goldwork Bulls. The Bulls scoring was led by John Steinman, Sebastian Paulemon and Andre Montgomery.

      DECEMBER 17, 2011
      Matt Wielk, Corey Smith and Rushad Peters powered the Mario’s Custom Painting Clippers to a 36-29 win over the Oyster River Petroleum Warriors. The Warriors were led by the 15 points from Adrian Jaynes and 4 points from George Smatt.

      Justin Miller, Jason Frazier and Jamal Pate combined for 26 points to lead the Metro Taxi Knicks to a 37-26 win over the Savin Rock Roasting Pistons. The Piston attack was led by Tim McCarthy, Ryan Weber and Bobby Hawkins.

      Jason Young, Shaun Tucker and Jamal Singleton led a balanced scoring attack to lead the Duffy’s Tavern Celtics to a 42-27 win over the Kelly Construction Sixers. Conor Pickering, Lorenzo Davis and Ryan Pickering powered the Sixer offensive attack.

      West Haven Youth Basketball continued with regular season action at Pagels School.

      Joe Syann knocked down four free throws in the fourth quarter to finish a 17-8 fourth quarter rally to power the Italian American Club Lakers to a 40-36 win over the Mario’s Custom Painting Clippers. The Lakers were led by 21 points from Daniel Ampoto and 6 from Joshua Moncrief. The Clippers offensive attack was led by 17 points from Eddy Moran and a combined 8 points from Rushad Peters and Sean Jefferson.

      The Falcone Law Hawks notched their second win behind the 18 second quarter points from Chris Chace and Leon Carlson to down the Kinney, Secola & Gunning Spurs. The Spurs attack was led by Tyrese Thomas, Sal Russo and Mike Smith.

      The Duffy’s Tavern Celtics held off a late rally from the Oyster River Petroleum Warriors to win 38-34. Nate Smalls, Jason Young, Shaun Rucker and Davon Jordan powered the Celtics in the win. Mike Dimartino and Trevon Avery combined for 24 Warrior points.

      The Savin Rock Roasting Company Pistons rallied behind the scoring of Jamal Hunter, Bobby Hawkins and Marshall Davis to down the Kelly Construction 76ers 29-27. The Sixers used the offensive play of Art Kelly, Conor Pickering and Brandon Sebastian.

      The Metro Taxi Knicks notched their second consecutive win as they defeated the Mario’s Custom Painting Clippers 27-22. Jason Frazer, Justin Miller and Jamal Pate led the scoring for the Knicks. The Clippers were led by the play of Matt Wielk, Mario Kiaunis and Daequan Matthews.

      The final game of the weekend saw Jabari Daluz and Nick Demaio combine for 20 points in the Kinney, Secola & Gunning 38-29 win over the Savin Rock Roasting Company Pistons. John Amendola knocked down a three pointer and had two key blocks. James McCarthy, Matt Duncanson and Joe Consorte led the offensive charge for the Pistons.

      West Haven Youth Basketball kicked off another season with games Monday and Tuesday night at Pagels School.

      In the opener, Lorenzo Davis, Art Kelly and Keno Dos combined for 27 points to power the Kelly Construction 76ers to a 47-31 win over the Hi-Fashion Cleaners Bucks. The Bucks attack was led by the scoring of Curtis Williams, Jordan Island and Desmond Spencer.

      The Oyster River Petroleum Warriors jumped out to a big first quarter lead behind the scoring of Trevon Avery, Adrian Jaynes and Michael Dimartino in their 52-36 win over the Goldworks Bulls. The Bulls scoring was led by Josiah Steinman, Harrison Febbriello and Terrill Antunes.

      The final game Monday saw the newly formed Italian American Club Lakers open with a 29-25 win over the Savin Rock Roasting Company Pistons. Daniel Ampoto netted 16 points and Joe Syann added 5 for the Lakers. The Pistons received scoring from Bobby Hawkins, Tim McCarthy and Joe Consorte.

      The Duffy’s Tavern Celtics used the combined 26 points from Wilson Gonzalez and Jamal Singleton to upend the Kinney, Secola & Gunning Spurs 35-31. The Spurs were led 14 points from Jabari Daluz and 4 points apiece from Tyrese Thomas and Josh Wallace.

      The final game of the week saw the defending champion Falcone Law Hawks start off the season with a 43-27 win over the Metro Taxi Knicks. The Hawks balanced offensive attack was led by Armando DeChalis, Cameron DeChalis and Jaedin Falcone. The Knicks were led by the play of Alex Hackley, Fernando Lopez and Justin Miller.

      The league will be holding a pancake breakfast fundraiser on Sunday, December 4, 2011 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Applebee’s on the Boston Post Road in Orange. All proceeds will benefit West Haven Youth Basketball and West Haven Girls Basketball.
